Matthews, Campbell, Rhoads, McClure, Thompson and Fryauf

Firm Profile

David R. Matthews began this law firm in March, 1976 by opening an office in downtown Lowell, Arkansas.  He opened his law practice in a building which once housed the Bank of Lowell..  David began a general civil trial practice in this office.

While maintaining the Lowell office, David began an affiliation with the Rogers, Arkansas law firm of Kelley, Luffman & Jennings.  In 1979, the name of the firm became Kelley, Luffman & Matthews.  the name change commemorated the fact that David became a partner in the firm and the fact that Jennings had been elected to become a chancellor.

In 1980, David ended his affiliation with Kelley, Luffman & Matthews and formed the partnership of Matthews & Campbell with Craig A. Campbell.   The forming of Matthews & Campbell fulfilled a childhood dream of the two friends who decided in junior high school that they would practice law together.  They operated out of the Lowell office, with both of them carrying out a general civil practice.

In 1983, the firm decided to expand by establishing an office in Rogers and hiring as an associate, George R. Rhoads, who had been an attorney with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.  George had also practiced in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rogers, Arkansas in a general civil practice.  In September, 1985, George became a partner and the firm reorganized as Matthews, Campbell & Rhoads, PA.

Edwin N. McClure joined the firm as an associate in September 1986.  Ed had clerked at the firm for two and a half years.

By 1988, the decision was made to consolidate the two offices into one.  The partners purchased the building located at 119 S. Second Street in downtown Rogers and commenced extensive remodeling.  The building had formerly housed a Chevrolet dealership and printing business.  In May, 1989 the law firm opened the doors of its office in historic downtown Rogers.

In December, 1989, Larry J. Thompson joined the firm as an associate.  Larry had worked for a Springdale law firm, Cypert, Crouch, Clark & Harwell, before joining the firm.  Larry is a certified Family Mediator.

During the next five year period, Ed, Larry, and Mark all became partners in the law firm.  In September, 1999, the firm name was changed to Matthews, Campbell, Rhoads, McClure, Thompson & Fryauf, P.A.

In 2002, Mauricio A. Herrera joined the firm as an associate.  Mauricio, who is bilingual, brings expertise in immigration matters as well as criminal law.  In January 2008 Mauricio became a partner in the firm.
